Which I loved Touch - if you haven't read it, then go and read it because it is amazing. Ah-maze-ing I tell you.
Okay now onto the interview:
Where did the idea for Touch come from?
A fierce need for coffee! I was at the back of a drive through line to get
coffee when the idea came to me. It started with the opening scene and two
characters and kind of blew up from there.
Throughout Touch there's a lot of unique abilities that I've never really heard of or would have thought of. So if you were a Six what sort of special ability do you think you would have?
I think I'd be able to talk to animals. I spend a lot of time alone with
my dogs. It would be awesome to chat with them :)
Have you ever done some of the things that Dez has done - like skateboard off of a roof, train surfing, bungeeing off of building?
I have gone bungee jumping, though I haven't skateboarded from a rooftop.
I have jumped from one though--and a moving car. Though that one was more
a case of fell out than jumped...
Touch is the first book in the Denazen series. What's the hardest or best part in writing the first book of a series?
Honestly, thinking about writing the other books in the series. There was
nothing hard about TOUCH. It poured from my brain without a hitch and the
characters were like old friends. I think the hardest part will be
continuing to do the characters everyone loves justice as the series moves
forward.
How does it feel to have your first book hitting the shelves?
Surreal. I've dreamed about this for so long, and now that it's here, I
think I'm kind of in shock...
Do you have any must have's when you're writing?
Coffee, cheese, and doggie snores :)
What do you do when you're not writing?
I love animals. I volunteer at the local shelter a few times a week most
weeks and I love being outdoors. Everyone should go hiking at least once
in their lives! I also love to cook and I'm a sucker for cartoons.
Finally, what is one of your favorite things about being an author?
The absolute best thing? I get to make stuff up for a living. Seriously.
How freaking cool is that!? :)
Touch Blurb:
When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet,
seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.
Except there's something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower,is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she'll turn to dust if he touches her. It's not until Dez's father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there's more to this boy - and her father's "law firm" - than she realized.
Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation - an organization devoted to collecting "special" kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons - his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. Dez and Kale team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they're caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.
A secret Kale will kill to protect.

Fun interview. I've been wanting to read this book.
ReplyDeleteI always thought about being able to talk to my dogs - it sounded like a great idea until I realized one is smarter than me and the other one would probably talk and complain non stop lol
